This backyard wedding worshipped God in such a beautiful way. It was an absolute honor to witness … from the handwritten invitation to God and the grandmother’s heirloom engagement ring to a powerful family blessing where hands were laid on the couple and a worship song sung by the mother of the bride. And of course, the maker of the universe provided us with a stunning sunset. Catherine + Jesus decided to scale back their original wedding day plans and host an intimate, multi-cultural gathering on her parent’s property - and the place where they became engaged. I am beyond happy they did, because despite the dozens of welted and painful ant bites on my feet (pretty sure I managed to step in every ant hill on the property), it was the exact kind of union that I adore - one where I can both serve my couple and through overflowing eyes, worship my God. I know this marriage is going to be even more beautiful than their wedding.
How did you meet? We met through Instagram.
How did he propose? Jesus got all of our friends and family involved. Our friends and family were aligned down my long driveway with signs in their hands, each sign was written around scripture. He was standing in the barn structure with a path of rose pedals leading to him. There were lights, candles, and photos of us around him. He handed me a bouquet of two dozen roses and told me how much I meant to him. Then he got on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes!
