Celebrating Justin & Kayla's Sweet Season of Waiting Through Charlotte Maternity Photography

There are so many reasons I love what I do, but one of the greatest joys of being a Charlotte maternity photography photographer is getting to walk alongside my couples long after their wedding day.

This month has been all about babies, and my heart couldn't be fuller! After photographing two back-to-back maternity sessions for past wedding couples, I'm reminded once again why this season of life is so incredibly special. It never loses its wonder to watch one of my brides and grooms become Mom and Dad. Being invited back to document the anticipation, excitement, and love before they welcome their little one into the world is one of the greatest honors of my job.

This session with Justin and Kayla was one I'll never forget.

If you've ever planned an outdoor session during a North Carolina summer, you know the drill: watch the radar, refresh the forecast, and wonder if it's time to reschedule. Their maternity session quickly became a "Should we reschedule? Should we wait it out? I don't know!" kind of evening as storms rolled through the Charlotte area.

Thankfully, the Lord had other plans.

Just when we needed it most, the rain stopped, the skies calmed, and we were given a beautiful window of time with cooler temperatures and soft summer light. It was the perfect backdrop to celebrate Justin and Kayla as they prepare to welcome their first baby — a precious little girl due in just a couple of weeks.

Their story has been one of my favorites from the very beginning. Just last year, I had the privilege of photographing their wedding, where they shared their very first kiss together at the altar. Watching their love story continue into parenthood has been such a beautiful reminder that marriage is just the beginning of so many incredible chapters.

As a Charlotte maternity photography photographer, these are the moments I treasure most — not just creating beautiful portraits, but preserving the milestones that families will look back on for generations. Pregnancy is such a fleeting season. It can feel long while you're living it, but before you know it, tiny kicks become tiny toes, and your life changes forever.

These photographs become a way to remember the anticipation, the joy, and the incredible love that already existed before your baby ever arrived.

One verse came to mind throughout their session:

"Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them!" — Psalm 127:4-5

What a blessing it is to witness God's faithfulness as families grow.

Justin and Kayla, thank you for allowing me to continue telling your story. I cannot wait to meet your sweet baby girl very soon.
